Angelica Heaney–Creative, Poet, Performer
Angelica is currently an undergraduate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, working towards her degree in Sociology with a double minor in African American Studies and Creative Writing. During the COVID-19 quarantine, she began working on her first self-published collection of poetry and visuals, “Put On A Face Mask & Heal Sis.” and is trusting the process as she goes!
“I started writing when I was 12 and fell in love with the art of poetry almost immediately. I have never been the most outspoken person in the room but that doesn’t mean that I don’t have a lot to say! I don’t create with the intention to please others, I create because it is simply what I am most passionate about. In doing so, I have learned to value the power in my story and in my voice… Art is honest and it is in everything.” – Angelica
